OUR BODIES KNOW WHAT GOOD DESIGN FEELS LIKE

Moments that inspire me are the soft glow of a warming hut deep in a winter forest, the exhilaration of plunging into a cold lake after emerging from a steaming sauna, the satisfaction of collapsing into a comfortable space after a long day in the mountains.

I have a lifelong interest in and passion for designing homes. Elements of my northern roots are fused into my process and overall aesthetic.

I believe that good design is a slow process and composed of countless iterations; that there should be profound consideration for functionality, spatial volume, material longevity, tactility, and light quality. Orderliness and quality take time and thoughtfulness. I believe that spaces have the power to be both warm, restorative, re-charging hearth centers while also incorporating whimsy and joy to spark the passion and productivity we need to be our best selves. Well-designed homes connect us: to each other, to our landscapes, to our purpose.

After twelve years of working on high-end mountain home design for two respected, Bozeman-based architecture firms, I established my own small practice in Livingston, MT in 2020. What I enjoy most about being an architect is developing long-lasting and personal relationships with my clients, working side by side with the local building industry, and serving the needs of this growing community.

I find daily inspiration in the stark beauty of Montana, especially while running through the mountains or along the Yellowstone River, reveling in the peace and joy of a simple daily movement practice.

Above all, my greatest joy comes from experiencing this beauty with my husband, young son, and our border collie – floating, camping, or skiing through the wilderness together.
